Apple loses rights to iPhone trademark in Brazil

Apple is one of most famous company in the world but, unfortunately company has lost its case in Brazil on Wednesday about its iPhone trademark.

INPI (Institute of Industrial Property) has denied Apple for the registration of iPhone trademark in Brazil.

INPI further stated that using of same name for two different products by two different companies can create confusion for consumers.

In the repost published on their official site theytold the reason that, iPhone trademark is already registered in the name of Gradiente Electronica SA (a Brazilian consumer electronics maker company).

According to the sources, Gradiente Electronica has registered this trademark in 2000 and Apple launched its famous Smartphone in 2007. That’s the big reason behind the decision of INPI.

Apple spokesperson was not available when press wanted to know their views about the decision of iPhone trademark. However, later on Apple officials told in their press conference that they will challenge the decision in Brazilian courts.

Moreover, the institution for monitoring trademarks and patents said that Apple can still sell their products with the name of iPhone, but Gradiente Electronica company has the right of go to court for uniqueness if found any with Apple’s iPhone.
